It was a French meal… with a twist.

To whet our taste buds, we started dinner with a scrumptious Maine lobster cooked with asparagus, broccoli, fresh pomegranate and tarragon dressing.

Next, we had a delicious potato, broccoli and turmeric soufflé, which was so yummy.

The main course was a choice of juicy codfish or mouth-watering beef. I selected the fish, and this was served with creamy parsnips and pomegranate salsa.

To round off the meal with something sweet, we had a scrumptious green tea flavoured parfait, served with jasmine sorbet and sable biscuit.

Natural Whole Foods to ward off cancer

The real aim of this scrumptious meal was actually to show us that broccoli, turmeric, pomegranate and green tea – food items that we don’t usually eat together on a regular basis – could be cooked together and combined to form a yummy and flavoursome dinner.

These four natural whole foods (broccoli, turmeric, pomegranate and green tea) are important because they are rich in polyphenols and contain antioxidant properties that help protect healthy cells, to ward off cancer. In cancer patients, changing their diet to accommodate these foods will help to slow down the cancer growth tremendously.

Pomegranate has natural antioxidant properties that inhibit the uncontrolled growth of cells by suppressing the enzymes in the intestine and liver that convert pro-carcinogens into cancer-causing agents and causing cells to self-terminate.

Turmeric, which contains curcumin that gives it the yellow colour, has anti-inflammatory properties that inhibit the growth of abnormal stem cells, thus preventing the spread of damaged cells without harming the healthy cells.

Green tea helps the self-termination process of unhealthy cells. It inhibits the spread of damaged cells, retains good cells and suppresses the formation of blood vessels that supply abnormal cells with nourishment.

Broccoli slows the growth of malignant cells. Regular broccoli intake regulates genes linked to the growth of these abnormal cells and promotes genes associated with the suppression of abnormal cells.

Clinical trials involving patients with prostate cancer have proven this

Clinical trials have been conducted by Professor Robert Thomas, who was voted Oncologist of the Year by the British Oncology Association in 2007 and is now a clinical teacher at Cambridge University. He is a leading British oncologist with 30 years of experience. The professor’s work, involving patients with prostate cancer have indeed shown that these four super-foods have the ability to slow down cancer growth.

This works by stimulating epigenetic mechanisms that modify the way cancer cells regulate their growth and development, without significant side effects.

During our food tasting session cum dinner, held at the Au Petit Salut, a French fine-dining restaurant, Professor Thomas gave a presentation to explain the benefits of taking these super foods, for both cancer patients, as well as those who wish to take precautions against cancer.
