How do you know if he or she is The One?

You have been dating someone for several months now but you are not sure whether he or she is really The One. You like your friend very much and you get on very well together, but is he or she the Special One?

Here are some tips to help you decide.

You can’t stop thinking about him or her

When you find that you can’t stop thinking about the person and he or she randomly comes to your mind at any time of the day, you are definitely falling for him or her.

For example, when you find yourself staring hard at a poster of a concert with your friend’s favourite artiste on it (but not yours) and he or she immediately comes to mind, then that is definitely a sign of falling for your Special One.

Other priorities take a backseat

You find that other things that used to be very important to you are now no longer as important, compared to him or her.

For example, if you always work out on Saturday evenings, but he or she is only free for dinner on a particular Saturday, you will happily miss your workout just to spend the evening with your friend. As well, you will be willing to cancel your other appointments if he or she is free to meet you at a particular time.

You will compromise more

Even though you may not have an interest in a particular activity, you’ll find yourself agreeing to go to do things that the person wants to do.

For example, if you are not usually a fan of basketball games, but he asks you to go to one, and you do so without kicking up a fuss – just so that you can spend some time with him, you are definitely falling for the person.

You find his or her quirky behaviour cute

A person’s quirky habits such as crunching chips loudly in the movies tend to annoy us. But if these quirks start to seem cute to you instead of being irritating, then it is surely a sign that your friend is becoming the Special One.

Talking to your friend puts a smile on your face when you’re down

If you find that simply talking to him or her can put a smile on your face even when you’re unhappy, especially if you are in a bad mood, then that could be a sign that you are falling for this person.

You enjoy silent time with him or her

With others, we like to fill up awkward silences with speech or activities. But if you find that you actually enjoy those silences when you are in the other person’s presence, perhaps just to enjoy his or her company, then it is definitely a sign that your friend is becoming your Special One.

You root for him or her to win… even against you

People are naturally competitive and as humans, we always want to take home the top prize ourselves. We don’t feel comfortable and we usually want “revenge” when we lose. So when you feel that you are actually starting to root for him or her to beat you at perhaps a game of tennis or squash, then it is definitely a sign of your friend becoming the Special One.
