FIJI™ Water Yoga Event and Wellness Village at Sentosa

Last Saturday, FIJI™ Water held its first Wellness Village at the Sapphire Pavilion at Sentosa’s Siloso Beach.

Bottled at the source in Viti Levu (Fiji Islands), FIJI™ Water is the No. 1 importers bottled water in the United States and is known for its iconic square bottle, soft mouth feel and unique mineral profile.

FIJI™ Water is also the choice of water among discerning consumers and top chefs and is widely available at fine restaurants, hotels and major retail channels across Singapore.

With health and wellness at the core of the FIJI™ Water brand, the “Wellness at its Finest” one-day event had provided participants with a look into the type of lifestyle that FIJI™ Water is associated with, and encouraged them to become better versions of themselves.

The event had been free, allowing passers-by the chance to visit and experience the village whilst at the same time, getting acquainted with the FIJI™ Water brand.

Passers-by and participants relaxed and unwound on the beachfront, took selfies with colourful beach-themed floats and walked around the F&B and lifestyle stalls – namely An Acai Affair, DoSiRak, KITTED and Apres Avant.

I had reached the Wellness Village at about 6pm and I had a look around the wellness booths there. I thought that the spread of booths had been quite good, providing a nice balance in terms of the types of items available, ranging from hot meals to desserts, drinks and apparel.

While I was there, I got myself an Acai bowl from the An Acai Affair booth too because I was feeling a bit peckish – so the cold and refreshingly sweet yet healthy treat had had tasted quite delicious in my opinion.

Also, I took a look at the activewear apparel that had been on offer at KITTED, and though some of the clothing that they were selling had been quite colourful and eye-catching, I already have a lot of activewear apparel at home, so I didn’t really see the need to buy something.

But I took pictures with a couple of the floats and photo standees that were on display at the site though, in order to capture the memories of the occasion as these had looked quite interesting.

The event was anchored by two sundown yoga sessions – both hosted by prominent yogi and founder of The Yoga Lab, Jasmine Chong, and was set against the picturesque backdrop of Sentosa’s Siloso Beach, and saw the participation of about 200 people.

I took part in the second yoga session, which was supposed to have been scheduled to begin at about 6.45pm.

I must say that I am generally not the most flexible person around, but I thought the yoga session – which had eventually commenced about 15-20 minutes late – had been interesting and generally quite well-conducted though.

Jasmine was also bubbly and energetic, and she was able to keep us all engaged throughout the yoga session.

She constantly explained to us what we were doing, giving us a running commentary of the various yoga poses, and on a few occasions, she also offered an alternative pose if the pose that she was doing was too difficult for those who may not be so flexible. So this made things quite easy to follow and I did not have any trouble keeping up with the class.

As the session was supposed to be a basic one too, the poses were not too difficult or challenging. There had been a few where I may not have been able to stretch out all the way – unlike some of the other seasoned yoga practitioners present, but at least I had still tried my best though.

I had enjoyed the yoga session and the time had passed by a lot quicker than I had expected – sometimes when I am doing yoga, the time crawls by and I find myself counting down the seconds, when I am struggling to hold a difficult pose.

Unfortunately the yoga session had taken place on the sand, rather than the pavement ground near the Sapphire Pavilion like I had originally expected – so this had resulted in quite a bit of sand on my yoga mat.

Prior to the yoga session, there was a lucky draw too, for a chance to walk away with a pair of return flights to Fiji and five nights of accommodation. These were sponsored by Tourism Fiji. To my disappointment, I was not the lucky winner, though.

But I tried my luck at another Facebook contest organised by FIJI™ Water, in order to win a pair of return air tickets to the Islands of Fiji.

We had to capture our best FIJI™ Water moments at the Wellness Village and share about our experiences via these images using the hashtags #FIJIMomentsSG and #FIJIWaterWellnessVillage on social media. And I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for the outcome of this contest.

Soon after the yoga session, I had one more quick look around the wellness village before then making my way out of Sentosa.

Overall, I would say that the FIJI™ Water Wellness Village cum yoga event was a small-scale but well organised event and that I’d had plenty of fun being a part of it.
