Asia’s largest all-women’s running event, the Great Eastern Women’s Run – is now back in 2014.

The Launch

This year, the Great Eastern Women’s Run will take place on 9 November – at The Float, Marina Bay. It will cover iconic landmarks, including Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, Merlion Park and the new Sports Hub. 17,000 slots are available. The race is put together by HiVelocity – who also organized last weekend’s Sundown Marathon.

The event’s launch will take place on 7 and 8 June at 313 Somerset, from 11am to 8pm on both days – and is open to the public.

And to celebrate its continued commitment to helping women from all walks of life to stay healthy, the organizer is introducing a brand new programme – #RunToLiveGreat.

Run To Live Great

To take part in this, you simply have to convince a non-running friend to step up together with you and commit to a healthier lifestyle.

You attend training sessions and fringe activities and finally complete a run of any distance at the Great Eastern Women’s Run. And as a reward, you will both receive a complimentary Run To Live Great kit worth $350.

This kit includes an Adidas workout tee shirt, a pair of New Balance running shoes, a Polar Loop activity tracker and a tailored exercise programme. You also get complimentary access to three pre-assigned Great Eastern Women’s Run fringe activities.

There are only 50 pairs of women eligible for this new programme, so you need to quickly send in a photo of yourself and your running partner through Facebook, Instagram or online at http://gelife.co/runtolivegreat.

Activities at the Launch

If you register on-site during the launch itself, you will receive an attractive complimentary Runner’s Readiness Test by Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s Sports and Surgery Clinic and also get an exclusive sign-up gift.

You can bring your families and friends down to the launch and take part in a host of fun activities, including a photo booth, balloon sculpturing and scrapbooking workshops.

Get Tips from Pacers

At the same time, running enthusiasts who have already registered for the run, can get an exclusive chance to meet the all-female pacers for the 2014 event – and get some great tips from them. This Sunday, they will be leading runners on a 3km leisure run around the streets of Orchard Road and its surroundings.

Categories and Fees of the Run

Registration is now open. You can register at the launch – or at http://www.greateasternwomensrun.com

There will be 10km and 21km competitive races, together with a 5km Fun Run.

Race fees are $25 for Great Eastern Women’s Policyholders, $26 for Loyal Runners (those who took part last year) and OCBC card-members and $29 for Early Birds (those who sign up by 6 July 2014).

You can also get a discounted rate if you register with a partner. Under the corporate category, you can also have the option of signing up in teams of four.
