Worn by the world’s biggest stars

Worn by Usain Bolt – the World’s Fastest Man, as well as English football giants Arsenal FC, Argentine national striker Sergio Aguero as well as globally acclaimed recording artiste Rihanna, the Puma IGNITE XT is tailored for those looking to maximise energy and movement in sports.

The Puma IGNITE XT shoes challenge recreational athletes too – to put more energy into training and more positivity back into the sports that they are doing.

Given the opportunity to try out the Puma IGNITE XT shoes

Recently, at a launch for the media, I was given the opportunity to try out the Puma IGNITE XT shoes at The System Gym along Kampong Bahru Road. We were subjected to a high-intensity workout comprising of exercises such as mountain climbers, burpees, sit-ups and lunges.

Energy Return

During the exercise session, the first thing that I had noticed was that the IGNITE XT shoes seemed quite springy and I somehow seemed to have been energised by them, when I was using them for my workout.

I learnt that this had probably been due to the presence of the full-length IGNITE foam in the shoes, which provides high-rebound cushioning – a feature that returns the impact energy to the feet, to allow for a more effective recoil.

Agility and Support

At the same time, the shoes were also pretty light and responsive with fast movements. In a high-intensity gym workout, it is necessary to have shoes that will not weigh you down because you will have to make lots of movements, in all directions, at one go. The responsiveness in the shoes, was due to the full length Flex Groove in the IGNITE XT shoes, which ensures fast and dynamic multi-directional movement in the shoes.

The additional heel thickness in the shoes supports your side-to-side motions.

And the additional heel thickness present on the media and lateral sides of the shoe, helped to support my side-to-side movements. This is quite useful during a high-intensity gym session as you will be moving in all types of directions.

Traction

The Puma IGNITE XT shoes has solid rubber outsole pods, which provide full contact and traction, without weighing me down. This was a feature that I had noticed quite fast. And when I was walking in the gym, there was also a bit of friction. This certainly helps to prevent slipping and thus injuries, during gym exercises.

Cost of purchasing the shoes

You can purchase the Puma IGNITE XT shoes at a recommended retail price of SGD149 from all PUMA retail outlets across Singapore.

Puma Pact: A Consumer Engagement Platform

Together with the Puma IGNITE XT training shoes, Puma is also launching the PUMA PACT. This is a consumer engagement platform – through the PUMATRAC running app – that guides people with the tools and motivation that they would require, to make themselves faster, stronger and fiercer athletes – thus driving Puma’s rallying cry, #NoMatterWhat.

Through this campaign platform, Puma’s elite athletes will also lead and inspire people to train harder and faster.

An Endurance Training Challenge by Puma

Puma is also launching the first-ever 24 Hour Trainathlon series in Asian countries such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing, Jakarta, Tokyo and Hong Kong. This is an endurance training challenge where participants must display extreme determination and strength to make it through a variety of obstacles. The top prize is a chance to take part in the Trainathlon finale in Hong Kong.

The details of the Singapore leg – which is likely to take place early next month – will be announced soon.
