Cold Storage Kids Run celebrates 10 years of healthy eating and active lifestyle

To commemorate their 10 years anniversary of healthy eating, active lifestyle and family fun, the Cold Storage Kids Run will be taking place at a new race location and with a brand new start-time.

10th Cold Storage Kids Run kicks off with a Healthy Lunchbox Competition.

As Asia’s first kids-focused running event and a mainstay on the Singapore running calendar, the annual Cold Storage Kids Run attracts more than 5,000 kids as well as 15,000 parents and friends, each year.

Promises an unforgettable 2017 experience

And to ensure an unforgettable experience for the 2017 edition, the race organisers have announced that parents and their loves ones, can look forward to a beautiful and breezy seaside running route at Sentosa, and to minimise traffic congestion, the start time has been pushed back to 7.15am.

The race will flag off from Palawan Green and families can enjoy the fun and exciting post-race activities, before spending the rest of the day enjoying the attractions on Sentosa.

Said Hannah Hong, Marketing Communications Director, Cold Storage, “The Cold Storage Kids Run is a wonderful platform for families to bond and a great opportunity to inculcate healthy living and eating in children. For the past nine years, we have held the race in various locations across the island and this year, having the race at Sentosa means that children can enjoy the sun, sand and sea and visit various attractions on Sentosa after our event, with their parents.”

Started out as the only running event for kids

Beginning as the only running event for kids, the Cold Storage Kids Run started in 2008 and over the past nine years, has attracted more than 48,000 children and 128,000 parents and supporters. The run has also marked milestones in the kids’ growing up years.

Healthy Lunchbox Contest participants enjoyed themselves.

Said Terence Khoo, Managing Director, Enterprise Sports Group, the organiser of the event, “For children who have taken part in multiple editions of the Cold Storage Kids Run, this event provides important milestones in their childhood, from taking part in their first running event, setting personal goals as they get older and enjoying quality time with their parents. We believe such memories encourage them to adopt an active lifestyle and reinforce the importance of family bonds.”

New format for the 10th anniversary

A new format will also make its debut in the 10th anniversary of the run: to cater to families with one child, both parents, rather than just one, will get to run with their child.

Every runner will also have free admission to Sentosa, a limited edition 10th Anniversary Finisher Tee and Medal, a race pack and a finisher certificate. Kids and their parents can also enjoy discounts at attractions like KidZania Singapore, Madame Tussauds, Mega Adventure, 4D AdventureLand, Go Green SegWay and discount vouchers for retail outlets and restaurants across Sentosa.

RoadShow

And to kick off the 10th Anniversary celebrations, a roadshow was held last weekend, where parents and children enjoyed food sampling, met Cold Storage mascots Banana King and Appleton, and learnt more about healthy eating from Christine Rubi-Cruza, a wellness expert. They also got to impress judges by selecting fresh, wholesome fruits and vegetables from Cold Storage as part of a Healthy Lunch Box contest.

Jasmine’s two daughters, Faith and Cherish, will be taking part in the Cold Storage Kids Run. Said Jasmine, “I look forward to spending a memorable day ay the Cold Storage Kids Run come May 28.”
