Skechers Blacklight Run 2017 illuminated the night at Sentosa’s Palawan Green last Saturday

Sentosa’s Palawan Green had been a hive of activity last Saturday night when participants of all ages and walks of life took part in the second edition of the Skechers Blacklight Run™ Singapore.

Ah Boys to Men star Joshua Tan got the crowd going at the pre-race party

The Skechers Blacklight Run™ is a world class lifestyle running event that initially originated from the United States of America. Featuring Glow powders, Blacklight Zones, and an after party with DJs from Singapore and the region, the Skechers Blacklight Run™ is set to be most instragrammable 5K run out there with its psychedelic blend of music and colour.

A 5km fun run, the course took runners down a psychedelic route of bright lights, laughter, sweat and exhilaration with a party atmosphere from beginning to end.

Pre Race Party

Prior to the run, at the pre-race party, the already amped up runners were treated to thumping performances of regional deejays – DJ Lady Punch, DJ Hypeembeats and DJ Momo. As well, Joshua Tan – Singaporean heartthrob and Ah Boys to Men superstar, got the crowd pumped as he took to the main stage and treated the party goers to their first splash of Glow Powder.

Before setting out on the race route, he said, “This is a new and exciting experience for me and I am thrilled to be a part of the Blacklight Run and see so many happy faces in the crowd.”

Runners had a great time

Warmed up and raring to go, runners were flagged off with Joshua leading the VIP contingent.

The participants ran, danced and skipped their way through the 5km of neon lights and three special Blacklight Zones which showered the participants with the event’s trademark 100% natural and non-toxic Glow Powder in bright green, pink and orange colours.

Indeed, runners who had take part in the event had a great time, too.

Said Alvin Lim on Facebook, “I just completed the Blacklight Run with Yuan Lim. This is how millennials do their runs – with lots of bling and we-fie moments. It was great fun pretending to be young for the night!”

Agreed Ariel Huang, also commenting on Facebook, “It had been an awesome night spent out with my friends.”

After Party and Entertainment

But after completing the 5km route, the fun was far from over for the runners. This was because at the finish line, runners had danced the night away at the After Party Zone, where Thailand’s premiere female deejay, DJ Lady Punch, along with Malaysia’s DJ Hypeembeats and Singapore club darling DJ Mom kept the party going strong.

The combination of the Celebration Glow Powder throws, the Foam Glow and the photo worthy Foam Wall, had kept the festivities going till late and by the end of the night, runners had been exhausted yet happy at the same time.

Organisers and Sponsors are happy with the success of the event

The event organisers and sponsors were pleased with how the event had turned out. Said Elvin Ting, Managing Director of Orange Room, the organisers of the run, “The Skechers Blacklight Run™ is the largest night time 5km race in the world and there is no better way to cap off a run by partying the night away. Coming off the success of our events in Singapore and Thailand, we have plans to bring the Skechers Blacklight Run™ to more cities in the region.”

Runners turned partygoers were entertained into the night.

And agreed Susan Chua, Vice President of Skechers ASEAN, the title sponsors of the event, “We are pleased to once again be the title sponsor of the Blacklight Run and we are glad to see all the participants showing up in full force. The run is a great way to stay healthy with friends and family while having fun, and we can’t wait to be back again.”
