Gold Award for Best Sports Participation/Amateur Event category

SCMS, which draws more than 50,000 runners annually, was recognised by the industry, with a Gold Award in the Best Sports Participation/Amateur Event category at the Inaugural Sports Industry Conference (SPIA Asia) at Manila’s New World Makati Hotel on 2 October.

Silver Award for Use of Social Media Category

The SCMS also picked up a Silver Award in the Use of Social Media category, with its ground-breaking Digital Queue initiative. This gave digital-savvy runners the chance to secure their places as well as Golden Jubilee bibs ahead of the official launch, thus bringing the participant experience to a whole new level.

The Digital Queue created a viral effect, rewarding users with points when they engaged in social media with the hashtags #SCMS2015 and #DigitalQueue. In all, more than 30,000 posts were received through the Digital Queue, with winner Chan Han Wen picking up 48,000 points over the one-week that the digital campaign had been running for.

Gold Award at the 2015 Marketing Events Awards

As well, StanChart Marathon’s Digital Queue initiative won a Gold Award at the 2015 Marketing Events Awards in Singapore too.

SCMS’ Efforts have been recognised

Said Spectrum WorldWide Marketing Director Thibaut Vellard, “The marathon has always been the people’s race and we are glad that we have been recognised for initiatives that continue to enhance the experience for the participants.”

He continued, “We are also very delighted with the results of the Digital Queue and would like to thank everyone who has played a role in its success. As event organisers, we are proud to have our efforts recognised on a regional scene – this is a strong testament to what we have achieved with the marathon over the years. We look forward to further successes when the event comes around in December.”
