How to Beat Hard Level 245 on Candy Crush Saga

The highest level reported or completed by PrischewDotCom readers so far was at level 1955 for Candy Crush Saga and at level 665 for Candy Crush Odus the Owl’s Dreamworld.

In this level of Candy Crush Saga, you are required to make five striped + wrapped candy combinations and collect a massive 60,000 points within the 50 moves that you are allocated.

To many players, this is already a hard task. But in Level 245, you also face many irritating candy bombs that threaten to blow up your game if they are not destroyed in time. This only makes the level even more challenging than ever. As a result, players tend to focus too much effort in destroying the bombs and neglect trying to make candy combinations as well as to pick up the 60,000 points.

But it is not impossible to beat Level 245. Here are some tips that you can use, in order to beat this level.

Focus on making the wrapped candy

You will probably find it much easier to create the striped candy rather than the wrapped candy. But focus your efforts on making the wrapped ones and strategically position these in several key areas of the board.

In this way, you will be able to form your first combo once you see an opportunity for a striped candy just next to or directly above a wrapped one. And it does not matter whether the striped candy is a horizontal or vertical stripe – you will still be able to use it to complete the level.

Take risks with the mystery candy

At times, you will see a mystery candy falling onto the board. These candies can turn into anything. Sometimes they may turn into things like chocolate or liquorice. But at other times, they may become wrapped or striped candies – which will help you to succeed at this level.

So if you see a chance to make a combination using a mystery candy, I would recommend you to take it – instead of ignoring it completely.

Make sure the bombs do not explode

Try and ensure that the bombs in this game do not explode on you. So keep a constant watch over them and match a bomb whenever you see the opportunity to do so. However, because the bombs in this level have 12 moves rather than say three, you will be able to play your game at peace from the bombs. But if you ignore them completely, they will explode.

Do not think of those bombs as a nuisance. If you are watching the bombs out of the corner of your eyes, you may unconsciously also see chances to create a wrapped candy and won’t be concentrating on just a single portion of the game board. This may even help you to win the game.

You need to save your candy crush hammer, until you have enough of them. in my case I had 5

    • Priscilla says:

      Good point there. 🙂

      • Mary says:

Is there anyway to skip level 245 been playing 6 months

        • Priscilla says:

          Unfortunately no.
But to increase your chance to beat the level, STOP playing for maybe 2 days to 1 week. When you return to the game, you will suddenly beat it. Has happened to me many times.

          • Ron says:

what’s funny about this level. my friend needs 5 sets of wrapped stripped and on my comp I only need one. strange!

    • Bea says:

I saved up my hands that do the switch. Wait for an opportunity to switch a striped candy next to the wrapped candy. I made my five matches with fifteen plays left and used five of the switching hands

  • Bill Mitchell says:

FINALLY! Finished this damned level. Had one combo to go with 4 moves left and thought I was once again going to be denied. Right at the last moment I noticed a setup for a wrap. Then to my amazement, there was a setup for a stripe right next to it. Final move I beat this demon spawn level.

By far the hardest most maddening level so far in this game.

A tip? Focus on the middle of the board. Try to always take something from the middle 3 columns every move and you’ll make a lot more wraps. Also fire cookies immediately to remove a color from the board.? Get rid of bombs immediately when you get a chance. They can get stranded and ruin a good board.

    • Priscilla says:

Well done and congratulations, Bill! 😀

Anyone else who may have tips, feel free to share them as well. 🙂

      • Peter says:

I finally did it no money spent no boosters.. Straight up focus.. Then the trick is to not let the wrapped candy explode magically! Happens all the time right? So like others mentioned.. Focus on setting up the wraps by moving pieces to build Ls n Ts, concentrate on parts of the board where similar colours congregate. Once you get the wraps do the same with the stripes but ensure you move the pieces carefully as to not self destruct the wraps, you’ll recognize an emerging pattern If you pay close attention. If you notice that you do not have many colours grouping to make Ls or Ts try breaking up the board from bottom up and stripes n wraps may fall. There is a pattern here, once you break it combos fall from the sky.. Lots n lots of encouragement, focus and you’ll beat it down with your last move.

        • Priscilla says:

A huge congratulations to you!!! And thanks for these useful tips – I’m sure they will help many players!! 🙂

      • Donna tentler says:

I can’t beat this level. Have been on it for werks. I am quitting candy crush…not fun any more.

  • Joanne says:

    What is a switch hand?

    • Priscilla says:

It’s one of the boosters in Candy Crush. Its function is to swap 2 candies that do NOT make a match. This one takes the form of a little red hand and can be found on the top extreme left corner of your Candy Crush mobile game.

  • Annette says:

Whew! After weeks stuck on 245, I finally got past it on the second try after reading the hints on your page! Thank you! It’s all about focusing on getting the wrapped candy.

    • Priscilla says:

Congrats to you!!! Glad that the hints helped! 😀

      • Bernice says:

I’m stuck for months I’m thinking of quitting from candy crush, very frustrated?

        • Priscilla says:

Hi, I have realised that if you are stuck on a level and take a break from it, maybe 1-2 weeks, you can somehow come back to the game and you seem to be able to pass the level…

  • Zee says:

Struck in this level for decades nothing seems to work

  • heather says:

Everyone says make wrapped candy. I find I am not even getting the opportunity to make wrapped candy. I get lots of striped candies but will often not even get one chance at a wrapped. They just don’t line up. I also find the free spin never gives you a candy that will truly help with the current level.

    • Priscilla says:

You get wrapped candies when you combine candies together in an L or a T shape. Try to look out for these and you will eventually pass. Be patient. Many, including me, have passed this level.

You can also get striped + wrapped candy with the free spin wheel. That may help you a bit. I have gotten it several times.

  • Kristin Ivory says:

Everyone loves what you guys are usually up too.
This kind of clever work and coverage! Keep up the excellent works guys I’ve included you guys to our blogroll.

  • LCaution says:

OK, this was a pain. It involves more luck than skill but unlike some of the more awful levels, skill and planning do pay off.

I managed to get to this level without really knowing how to make wrapped candies – yes, I am that dumb/visually challenged – especially the T-configurations. Now I do.

It probably took me about 100 tries over the course of a week. The best advice I can give:

    1. Patience – don’t expect to ram through this one. Indeed, one of the most frustrating aspects of this level is that one can take a lot of time to plan moves only to have them blow up right before your eyes. (This may be more of a problem for people like me who have trouble visualizing the effect of a move even when cascades are not a problem.).

    2. The cascades seem to hurt more often than they help. Expect to lose positions you are trying to set up. Often.

    4. If you can’t get a striped next to a wrapped in a couple of moves, give up. Move to another part of the board. A cascade may eventually help with the original position or, just as likely, destroy it.

    5. If the board seems unpromising for the required combos, but you have other possible types (two stripes, two wrapped, or a sprinkle ball and striped) strongly consider blowing them up just to open up part of the board. The cascades may do it anyways, and one of the striped/wrapped combos will do so automatically, so you might as well do it yourself if nothing else seems to be available or working. In short, there are times when deciding to destroy part of the board makes better sense than trying to maneuver a striped next to a wrapped.

    5. If you get a chocolate sprinkle ball – and I seem to have gotten way, way, way more than my usual share on this level – they are probably most useful to keep in reserve to detonate a bomb (by hitting a candy with the bomb’s color) or to get rid of one color so it is easier to make combos. If one turns up next to a striped, it will also clear away a lot of the board but I think getting rid of one color is more useful.

    6. I finally won on the next-to-last move with a “hail-mary” move that created just the right kind of mini-cascade.

    • Priscilla says:

Congrats on passing and thanks for the useful tips! They’ll definitely help other players! 🙂

  • Margo says:

    That is it uninstalled.

  • Margo says:

I have never once as yet in 6 months playing this level had a wrapped candy within one move at the beginning of the game.

  • Ghada says:

Thanks for the useful tips , but it seems I ‘ll spend rest of my life trying to beat this level 🙁 .I’m so hopeless coz I tried everything but noway with this stupid level .

  • Kim says:

After a week, and many many tries, I finally beat this, but switching over to my ipad, starting with a wrapped and stripped, and trying to make all my wrapped at the bottom. Got it on the first try, and was so excited! Hope there are no more levels like that one!

  • Margo says:

I give up,been at this level since Christmas.

  • Isabelle says:

I finally passed level 245! Your tips really helped me, thanks 🙂

  • olympia says:

I beat level 245. Tips were helpful in that they helped me focus on important stuff. Biggest tip- keep restarting to get a wrapped candy on opening board. Saves tons of moves. Thanks!!!!!

  • Gigi says:

I JUST finally beat this awful level with no boosters after playing on/off all day. I actually did have a wrapped/striped combo booster but I didn’t beat it the round I used it in. I’m not sure that I have anything amazing to add tips wise, except one thing I didn’t really see.

If you start off w/ a bad board, don’t even bother.

At first(like others) I was more focused on the bombs so I was looking for a board where I could eliminate the first bomb right away. Then I kept reading to focus less on the bombs, so instead I made sure I could make a wrapped candy right away on my first move. I’m assuming ppl who are reading this know how to exit in and out of a board to get a good starting one. From there on, I think what honestly helped me the most was just playing over & over.

Though it drove me slightly insane, the more I played the better I got at making wrapped candies. I generally always made a wrapped if I saw one UNLESS(as was the case w/ my winning game) I already had a wrapped on the board and I had a chance to make a wrapped OR a striped & could see that if I made the striped it would fall right next to the wrapped.

Try not to get too frustrated when you’ve spent all this time carefully making wrapped & striped candies only to have the whole thing literally blow up in your face lol…it’s going to happen from time to time no matter how careful you are & I think that’s one of the most frustrating things about this level.

At first I wasn’t making sprinkle balls at all but then I read someone’s tips about using them to get rid of a color so you have more opportunity to make special candies. Also, I mostly used them to take care of hard to reach or match bombs.

I’d try to get one next to the color of a bomb I thought I might have a problem with and that can really be a lifesaver as well. The bombs are obviously the other most frustrating parts of the level. I dread boards where I see bombs.

I read a lot of advice that said not to worry about them b/c usually when you get a striped/wrapped combo it would take then out anyway. That advice is good except I personally found getting rid of them sooner and not later gave me more piece of mind, which is also important on this level.

Basically I would look first if I could make a wrapped, then if I could make a striped, then if I could easily take out a bomb. I also tried to open the mystery eggs as much as possible b/c they can definitely be very helpful as well, along w/ those wonderful checks which turn into whatever it is you need.

Honestly, this level is just a pain but it definitely can be beat. And when I finally beat it w/ 3 stars, I was a happy camper 🙂

  • Ram says:

Yes it is a very frustrating level. However, I managed to finish this level, after 2 days of harrowing innumerable tries (must be close to 60 tries). Always would end up with bombs exploding, however much careful. getting the wrapped and the striped together is very major challenge. i thought I was never going to make this level and was getting ready to quit the game if I could not get through this week. Just now I finished the level. i came to the final order with wherein both the wrapped and striped candies were together but had got them together only at the final move. Fortunately I was gifted an extra move through my friends and I finished the level. Phew!

  • Sandra says:

I am having a hard time making wraps and then getting them next to each other. I have been on this level for 4 days. Can you help me?

    • Priscilla says:

The Free Switch Hand booster will be of great help if your wrapped candies are just separated by one candy. Lollipop hammers also come in useful to smash any candy in between the 2 wrapped candies on the same vertical column. So if you’ve been spinning the booster wheel daily and been accumulating these free boosters, you should use them on this level.

      • Rosalind loose says:

Hate this damn level . have been stuck on it for 6mths now with no hope of ever passing . no matter what I’ve tried nothing seems to work. I’m getting ready to quit candy crush for good as Its not worth the frustration of it all. What used to be a fun game to play is now nothing but boring and a pain in the arse . I like everyone else don’t mind a challenge , but this is just rediculous to say the least . Have never ever paid money to help me get through levels and I don’t intend to start now. So unless some miracle happens for me to pass this level candy crush has lost me as a game player. Will not be wasting my time and patience on a game that I’m losing interest in and is no longer fun to play.

  • K says:

After two weeks, I passed the level thanks to advice on this board. First, choose your board wisely. If there’s no candies ready to make a wrapped candy, get out of there. When you get a board that allows you to make a wrapped one, start playing. Best scenarios are starting with wrapped candy on upper board to give you room to move. Nothing worse than being stuck in bottom corner. Mystery candies do pay off. Not everytime but there’s that one board that will drop everything you need to complete this, I still had 12 moves left when I finished. This is a board where you really have to think ahead and plan your moves. I also liked using speckled candy to eliminate the color with the least candy in hopes of creating a wrapped candy. Good luck.

  • Marie says:

Just passed this difficult level after 12 days playing! My advise is look for T and L candys all the time and wait for Lady Luck pay a visit – which will happen . Trust me I was ready to give up but just kept playing. Good luck Candy Crushers.

  • Esther Lai says:

I’ve just passed this level today. Yay! The tips you and other friends offer are all very helpful. But I want to offer three more. First, collect the daily presents that Candy Crush gives you. You will find that switch hand is especially helpful in this level. Many times, the wrapped candy and the striped candy are just one candy away. Second, sometimes you will get lucky just by combining two striped candies or even a wrapped candy with two ordinary candies. If you insist on keeping the wrapped candies while trying to create a striped candy next to it, chances are you will soon use up your moves without accomplishing the mission. Third, if you use cellphone or tablet to play, look at the board to see if there is a chance to make a wrapped candy right away( looking for the L and T shape). If not, exit before you make any move and enter again. You won’t lose a life but you increase your chance of passing this level. Good luck!

  • Maureen says:

This level is impossible. I’ve watched videos and read the tips, nothing. This level is too frustrating. Bad enough can’t get the wrapped candies have to deal with the stupid bombs. I’m done with candy crush. I don’t have time to play all day. I’m not a gamer who can play 24/7. I have a liife and was playing for fun. This game is no longer fun. If I have to spend a month one one level, really, that is so wrong. King games needs to add to candy crush a way to bypass levels and be able to move on.

  • Sharon says:

I’m beginning to think this level is impossible. Have read and tried the tips to no avail. I got down to one and didn’t have enough moves left to make a stripped candy. This level would have been hard enough without the bombs. A challenge is good but no fun when it’s this difficult. I may be done with Candy Crush.

  • AGAL116 says:

The way I see it is, if you gotten this far in the game, you can and will pass level 245. It took me about a month to pass level 165 but I did it. Put some music on, relax and just have fun with it,and eventually you will be on your next level. Persistence and patience is all it takes. Good Luck.

  • Valerie says:

I have been stuck on this level for days. I read your tips but I have been doing everything right. Making those wrapped candies is the hardest. Really not sure how I am going to get passed this level.

    • Priscilla says:

Read Sue’s comments dated 18.01.2014. They may help. Sometimes you can be stuck for weeks on this level. Just be patient! 😉

  • Priscilla says:

Has anyone else managed to beat this level? Do share your tips if you have! 🙂

    • Sue says:

I just followed your tips and beat the level on the 3rd try. I had been stuck for two weeks. Most important for me was getting the wrapped candy and then creating a stripped next to it. I took your advice about letting the bombs sit for a bit. Before I was too concerned about getting rid of them ASAP.

  • Kaylynne says:

Thanks for the tips after reading them I finally beat the level

  • steve says:

I am going to stop this game right now. So much time invested in this one site. I can’t remember when I started it. I’ve been within two. I would have won but when the striped candy touched the wrapped the wrapped explodes without me doing anything. Better games out there. Most boards are useless, Maybe 2-3 opportunities for wrapped candy. I’m all for a challenge, but this game is ridiculous.

    • Priscilla says:

Don’t give up. Just persevere and everything will click for you one day in this level. Others have beaten it… so can you!!!

  • Ryan says:

I was stuck on this level for well over a month and came close to deleting the game as I just wasn’t enjoying it anymore. Follow all the advice previously given and most importantly wait for Lady Luck to pay a visit. It is rather frustrating as completing this level DOES rely on good fortune, but it does arrive….. eventually!! Don’t bother wasting your money buying boosters (which I’ve never done). The level IS doable but not on skill alone.

  • Sally says:

They have made this so very difficult, it truly makes you want to quite. The only way to beat it, is to keep spending money, which I can’t afford to do. When a game becomes work and causes stress, it is time to move on. Just is not fun anymore!

    • Priscilla says:

Don’t give up. Just be patient and keep persevering and as other players have said, you definitely will beat this level! 😉

  • brenda says:

I been on it for months no luck could use a some help please

    • Priscilla says:

These new tips may help you 🙂
      1) If you get any COLOUR BOMBS, use these to TAKE OUT some of the colours to give you more chances to create wrapped candies.
      2) If you get a wrapped candy, DO NOT focus on making more wrapped candy. Make striped candy near the place where the wrapped candy is to achieve your order. Cause combining striped + wrapped will wipe out any other wrapped candy still left on the board.
      3) Open up your mystery candy bags ONE at a time, but do so as SOON as you can in case they spawn out something useful.

Or you could catch some YouTube videos too. Search for “candy crush 245” in YouTube to get some good videos on the level. 🙂

  • Dante says:

This level is evil. Been stuck for over a week. The 2nd or 3rd time I played, I had four and if I had one or 2 more moves, I would have had it. If I knew how much a pain this level was going to be, I would have bought the 5 extra moves.

Do comment with your tips if anyone has beaten this level! 🙂

  • Keith Wigley says:

Look for L and T shape possibilities to create wrapped candy. If a striped candy is not immediately obvious above the wrapped candy, keep looking for wrapped candies and hopefully these are created at various points in the array. This increases the possibilities of striped candies being dropped onto striped candies.

  • Geoff says:

Level 245 is rubbish, I like a challenge as you can tell by getting to this level but I just can’t be bothered playing it now

  • Ursula says:

Level 245 is impossible to do

    • Priscilla says:

Thanks for your feedback. Anyone else got comments?

      • Serelia says:

Everything I have read about this level fails to mention that when you have stacked enough wrapped or stripped candies one move literally wipes them out. Very frustrating! Ready to quit the candy crush game!!!!!!! Uuuugggghhhh!!

        • Priscilla says:

If you passed Levels 181-184, you’re doing ok!! Don’t give up!! 🙂

          • Gigi says:

AHHH! Sorry every time I read the words “level 181” I get horrible flashbacks lol. That is still by far the worst level in my opinion. But I just wanted to chime in and say I totally agree and in fact when faced w/ a tough level now I use that to motivate myself. “If I beat 181, I can beat this one!” 🙂

    • MadMama says:

This is ridiculous! It had to be designed by an evil sadist!

  • Stacy says:

After reading these helpful hints I was able to pass this level on the second try. That is, after being stuck for four days! Not focusing on the bombs was the key for me. Thanks!

    • Priscilla says:

So glad that the tips have helped you! Do continue to support my blog and share the tips with your friends. 🙂

      • Finally I beat level 245 after 2 days…Here are some tips I used to beat the level:
1.kept resetting the board till I could find a Wrap match.
2.disposed off the bombs then and there
3.Took my time to play the game..no haste at all.
4.combining wraps,Colour bombs didn’t help a bit.I did it a dozen times but to no avail.
5.If you find 2 wraps together, find a striped combination for one,at least you’ll be able to fill one order. The other wrap will explode automatically.
6.Do one Combo at a time.Stacking is useless.
7.After forming a wrap ,during the process of forming a stripe see that cascades don’t spoil the wrap.Be patient in bringing down the stripe.Your focus should be only near the wrap and not on the other parts of the board.
8.It is easier if you form the wrap on the upper half of the board.
9.mystery bags are a boon ,as many of them have wraps.Use them.
        10.Don’t make useless moves.
        11. Don’t form stripes unnecessarily.Form one at a time only for the wrap.
        12. I crossed the level without boosters.
