Take workouts to next level with Plantronics’ new BackBeat FIT wireless noise-cancelling earphones

An audio pioneer and leader in the communications industry, Plantronics Singapore recently launched their most expansive set of consumer products, with five different earphone models across their BackBeat FIT and BackBeat GO lines.

These products deliver consumers new, immersive audio experiences so that they can hear and enjoy what matters most – from music to phone calls to entertainment.

Invited to the launch event

Plantronics recently invited me to the launch event of their new devices. This half-day event took place at the PURE Fitness gym at Raffles Place.

When I first reached the gym, we were given a Plantronics tee shirt and were instructed to get changed. I later found out that this was for a circuit training workout session.

BackBeat FIT 3100, the first true wireless earbuds

The session started with a light warm-up mainly comprising of various stretches, which was then followed by a short presentation on the brand new BackBeat FIT 3100, which is the brand’s first true wireless set of earbuds.

This headset according to Plantronics, delivers legendary Plantronics audio quality and uniquely boasts the Always Aware™ feature that enables outdoor enthusiasts to hear what truly matters – like taxi horns, barking dogs and screeching brakes.

With their soft, flexible earbuds, these also fit into the ears well and also hold in place comfortably, no matter the sporting activity that you are engaging in.

These earphones are also IP57-rated durable, sweat-proof and water-proof and Plantronics had daringly demonstrated this to members of the media present, by dunking the BackBeat FIT 3100 earphones into a glass of water in order to prove to us that water does not affect them.

Circuit Training

After the warm-up, we were subjected to a circuit training session that comprised of exercises such as squats, box jumps and sit-ups. Each circuit consisted of doing the exercises continuously for one minute, before moving onto the next station. We did each of the exercises a total of twice.

The circuit training session left me breathless, but we were not done once this was over, as the Plantronics staff then instructed us to head into the Fitness First cycling studio. Here, we listened to another  short presentation, this time on the Plantronics BackBeat FIT 2100 and the BackBeat FIT 350.

BackBeat FIT 2100, a consumer favourite

Described as the newest version of the consumer favourite BackBeat FIT, the BackBeat FIT 2100 model, too, boasts the Always Aware™ feature that allows you to hear your surroundings for safer training in any environment.

These earbuds are also built with waterproof and sweat-proof materials and they have secure-fit ear-loops that are made to stay put and withstand rigorous exercise, while the lightweight design stays comfortable and secure.

BackBeat FIT 350, for gym-goers

And BackBeat FIT 350 is another wireless option for gym-goers that offer users secure-fit ear-loops that do not come off with even the most strenuous of exertions. They also offer stability and up to six hours of listening time, and are optimised for situations where you want to hear your music – not the grunting of the power-lifter nearby.

After this, we were then subjected to a short spinning class for the next ten minutes, which the trainer had described as being just a ‘warm-up’ for their regular spinning classes.

It was still quite intense and adrenaline-pumping though, as there were still spurts of fast cycling, with recovery periods of slow cycling in between.

I was glad when the short class was finally over, and we were then allowed to head over to the couch area located near the gym’s reception, where we could sit down and finally have a rest, after all the exercise.

Once relaxing on the couch, we listened to a short presentation of Plantronics’ two newly-launched lifestyle headphones, these were the BackBeat GO 810 and the BackBeat GO 410.

BackBeat GO 810, hear what really matters

A wireless over-the-ear headphones that pack up to 28 hours of listening time for commuters and travellers together with dual-mode active noise cancelling features, the BackBeat GO 810 allow listeners to focus on what matters amidst the clamour of an airport, airplane, commuter bus or subway.

BackBeat GO 410, for comfortable all-day listening

On the other hand, the BackBeat GO 410 offers a lightweight design to provide comfortable all-day listening, while sitting securely inside your ears for a discreet and comfortable on-the-go listening experience.

And at the same time, the dual-mode feature in the earbuds, also makes it easy to decide how much noise you want to cancel out from your environment, too.

Conclusion Of Event

Following the conclusion of all these presentations, Plantronics then provided invited members of the media, the chance to try out the various sets of earphones using the display units at the event.

And intrigued by the BackBeat FIT 3100 earphones, I had decided to try these out during the event, and my first thought was that these appear to be quite impressive.

As well, there was also a lucky draw whereby we could stand to win the various sets of earphones, but unfortunately, luck had not been with me this time around.

Before departing, I also tried out Plantronics’ mini treadmill challenge, whereby the person who burned the most calories by running on the treadmill for one minute, stood to win a unit of the BackBeat FIT 3100 – but unfortunately there was no way that I had been able to match up to all of the fit and buff guys who had been in the same room as me, too!

Nevertheless this whole event had been a rather interesting way for Plantronics to launch their latest collections of earphones, and I must say that I had quite enjoyed the format of meshing the presentations together with various types of workouts, as this was quite innovative and different from the ordinary.
