These POKEMON GO Tips are actually Myths

Pokemon GO has been around in the world for a couple of months now. This has given plenty of time for online articles and tips to come online. But which of these are genuine tips and which are actually myths that are not really true?

Here is a breakdown of some of the Pokemon GO ‘tips’ that are in fact, myths.

EGG HATCHING

There are lots of tips that tell you that certain Pokemon are hatched out of certain eggs. But this is not necessarily true.

While it definitely increases your chances that you can hatch a Snorlax or a Hitmonchan from a 10km egg, it is by no means definite. If you are unlucky, a Weedle or Pidgey might also emerge from a 10km egg.

On the other hand, you can get a rare Pokemon from a 2km egg too if luck is with you.

POKEMON GO egg hatching is totally random.

So the egg hatching in POKEMON GO is entirely random then.

LEGENDARY POKEMON CAN BE CAUGHT

At this stage, it is NOT possible to catch Legendary Pokemon and neither can you hatch them from eggs. They are not available in the game. Period.

Though there were reports that some players earlier got their hands on an Articuno, this had been a mistake according to Niantic, and their Articuno was quickly revoked from their accounts.

So if you come across sites that tell you how to get Legendary Pokemon in POKEMON GO, most likely these are scams and high chance that it will get you banned from the game entirely. Is it really worth it to show off to your friends about your Legendary Pokemon catch of the day, and then find yourself banned the next day?

POKEMON SPAWN IN CERTAIN PLACES

While it does increase your chances to for example, catch Water Pokemon near to a body of water – like East Coast Park Beach and Changi Beach does have an awful lot of Water Pokemon – I have found that this is not always the case. Sometimes the Pokemon spawns can also be entirely random.

I have also caught Pokemon at completely random places. For example, I have previously come across a few Margikarps at Dhoby Ghaut area near to Plaza Singapura, which is not exactly near a body of water as far as I know.

YOUR POKEBALLS WILL BE RETURNED TO YOU

No matter what, or how badly you throw or tap at it, you will NOT get your PokeBalls back. So even if you miss the Pokemon that you are supposed to be catching completely, the PokeBall count will still go down and you will have to replenish your balls. There is no way to get back your PokeBalls. Once it is gone, it’s gone for good.

DO NOT WASTE TIME AND BALLS ON COMMON POKEMONS

Common Pokemon like Pidgey, Rattata, Caterpie and Weedle can be found all over the place. As such, you may find it a complete waste of time to catch these Pokemon.

But if you see them, they do have their uses. For example if you want to Level Up quickly, then you can accumulate as much of these common Pokemon as possible and when you have the time, use a Lucky Egg to evolve them at one shot. It helps that Pokemon such as Pidgey and Weedle only need 12 candies to evolve – so this means that you need to catch three and transfer one, to evolve one of these Pokemon.

As evolving Pokemon gives you 500XP each time and a Lucky Egg will double the amount of XP when it is active, this means you get 1,000XP with every Lucky Egg evolution. Depending on what level you are at, you will easily be able to gain anywhere between one to three levels by doing this. Trust me – I have tried it twice and it really works.
