Tips and Strategy on How to Beat Hard Candy Crush Level 97

There have been lots of queries on how to beat Level 97 in the Candy Crush Saga. So here are some additional information on this level, to complement my earlier blog post.

Why is Level 97 so Hard?

You will quickly realise that the odds are totally stacked against you. There are only a mere 25 moves and you have to score 100,000 points. This is a massive number by any standards.

Then to make things worse, there are bombs scattered all over the board and these come in without warning. These pesky bombs threaten to explode in a specific number of moves. If you don’t clear them in that period of time, they will destroy your game completely.

So then, how do you beat this frustratingly difficult level? Read on.

Only play if you have a good vertical match in one of the two right hand side columns

This is a very important tip in helping you to clear this level. It may not seem like much, but if you take a look at the position of the board, you should see a bomb stuck at the top right corner all by itself.

This particular bomb cannot be cleared unless it is moved downwards. And the only way to bring this bomb down is to make a match in one of the two rightmost columns.

So don’t bother wasting your lives and risking the bomb detonating, if you don’t have a good move in this section of the board, when you are about to start this level. No matter how many combos you may score in the other sections of the board, these won’t help with the bomb at the top rightmost corner – unless the bomb is brought down through a move.

Make wrapped candies

Try to focus on producing wrapped candies by clearing them in a T or an L shape. One of these will create pretty good damage on their own, but if you can get two of those wrapped candies and match them at the middle section of the board, the destruction would be incredible because it will clear a 9×9 square of candies. So try and do this, if it is possible. If the wrapped candies get too far down, to the edge of the board, the destruction won’t be as good, though.

Match speckled colour bombs with striped candies

If you get a speckled colour bomb, do not match it by itself because the destruction won’t be as good. Instead, what you should do is to combine this with a striped candy, for maximum impact. By doing so, every single candy of this specific colour will turn into striped candies and create line blast effects through the entire board – thereby clocking up a massive number of points.

Focus on clearing the bombs

If you can get rid of a bomb, this will help to push up the points, because a single bomb destroyed will give you 3,000 points. So a few bombs can very well make the difference between clearing the level or failing yet again.

As well, if you don’t get rid of the bombs on time, before the timer ticks down to zero, they will detonate and cause you to fail at the level for the umpteenth time. So try and clear the bombs as soon as you get the opportunity to do so.

Towards the End of the Game

When you are reaching the end, and you have about five moves left, focus your energy on making special candies to wrack up more points. This is because your special candies will automatically blast once the number of moves reaches zero, and earn you additional points. The injection of the points could very well mean the difference between clearing the level or failing again.
