The annual KL StanChart Marathon (KLSCM) 2025 appreciation lunch and awards ceremonies for the corporate and media challenge categories took place on Tuesday morning. I was the winner for the Media Challenge Half Marathon Women’s Open category.
This event is to reward the quickest runners amongst corporates, fastest running clubs and media participants and the prizes are awarded purely based on merit and finishing times across the 10km, half marathon and full marathon categories. As well, the event was to thank the event stakeholders and sponsors for their generous contributions to KLSCM 2025.
Winners for the Corporate and Running Club categories received specially designed medals and a trophy unique to their achievement. Media challenge winners received a uniquely crafted medal and a pair of ASICS running shoes. 
I won with my time of 01:56:48 for the 21.1km race. I am happy that I managed to maintain my sub 2 hours timing for the half despite this year’s route being more challenging due to the increased elevation, especially when we were running into Stadium Merdeka.
I walked away with the ASICS Gel Nimbus 27. The shoes given out appeared to be different for every Media Challenge participant, either with regards to the colour or the shoe model.
Rainier Biemans, the Director of Dirigo Events and the KLSCM Project Director, was also present with attendees to share a debrief and post-event summary of the 2025 event as well as to give attendees a sneak peek of when the 2026 event was.
KLSCM 2026 is set to take place on the 3rd and 4th of October 2026. So if you want to take part in Malaysia’s premiere marathon race, mark your calendar first and wait for news of race registrations to begin. 
The event concluded with lunch being served for all attendees, comprising of a Western meal of our choice and a beverage. I went for the fish and chips option, which was delicious and the portion sizes were generous.
It was an excellent event to get-together and network with other media participants and winners, as well as a great opportunity to get to meet and chat to the people who are behind KLSCM. Thank you once again to KLSCM.
