Food Review: Is The McGriddles® and the Chocolate Pie At McDonald’s® Still Just As Good?

The breakfast favourite – the McGriddles® – is now back at McDonald’s Singapore® outlets.

Featuring a delicious chicken sausage patty sandwiched between soft, maple flavoured griddle cakes, the Limited Edition breakfast favourite made a comeback in stores last Thursday and there are two variants – the Sausage McGriddles® and the Sausage McGriddles® with Egg.

I braved the snaking queues at my nearby McDonald’s Singapore® outlet and bought the Sausage McGriddles® with Egg for my breakfast this morning.

Tasting The McGriddles®

How did the Sausage McGriddles® with Egg taste?

As soon as I had got my hands on my Sausage McGriddles® with Egg, I could already smell the strong scent of the Maple Syrup wafting its way through the wrapper.

Upon unwrapping the McGriddles® and biting into it, the Maple Syrup flavour hit me immediately.

The McGriddles® had been significantly sweeter than I had remembered, when I last ate it many years ago as a schoolgirl, but on the other hand, the savoury flavours of the sausage patty, egg and the cheese slice had somewhat helped to balance out the sweetness to a slight degree.

Personally I should say that had found it to be a tad on the sweet side for my breakfast. But then again, the main reason for this, may be because I have been trying to reduce my carbs and sugar intake in recent months.

But that said, if you always order your McDonald’s Hotcakes slathered with Maple Syrup, then I would say that you would love the McGriddles®.

The McGriddles® at McDonald’s Singapore® is available from S$4.50 and S$5.40 a-la-carte respectively, at all McDonald’s® outlets and via McDelivery and GrabFood during breakfast hours, while stocks last.

You can also opt to have your McGriddles® order as an Extra Value Meal.

The Meal includes your choice of McGriddles® together with a Hash Brown and a Premium Roast Coffee from S$5.10 for the Sausage McGriddles® Extra Value meal and S$6.00 for the Sausage McGriddles® with Egg Extra Value Meal, whilst stocks last.

Juicy, Crispy Chicken

Besides the re-introduction of the breakfast McGriddles® though, McDonald’s Singapore® has also brought in a new Crispy Chicken, which is basically a generous piece of juicy, tender thigh meat covered with a crispy coating and fried to perfection.

Highly, flavourful spicy chicken that hits the spot every single time, the Crispy Chicken is now available from S$6.20 a-la-carte at all McDonald’s® outlets and via McDelivery and GrabFood during breakfast hours, while stocks last.

Twister Fries

As well, you can upgrade your Fries for your Extra Value Meal™ to Twister Fries™, for just S$0.70, while stocks last.

McDonald’s® Chocolate Pie

End your meal on a sweet note, too, with the popular McDonald’s® Chocolate Pie, a warm and decadent treat filled with molten chocolate and available from S$1.50 after breakfast hours at all McDonald’s® outlets and via McDelivery and GrabFood.

I have tried the Chocolate Pie myself, too, and if you love digging into Chocolate Lava Cakes, then I’d say you will almost certainly enjoy this.

The chocolate tastes smooth, rich, dark and decadent and the chocolate-infused pastry is slightly crunchy, which balances out the textures nicely.

Unfortunately though, the filling in the Chocolate Pie does not ooze out when you cut into it. That was my only gripe about this otherwise yummy treat.

And for those who can’t get enough of the hot-and-cold dessert sensation, get a soft serve ice cream cone too and eat your Chocolate Pie with that. This is the perfect combination and I would strongly recommend it.

Crispy Chicken Feast

And those with larger appetites can opt for the Crispy Chicken Feast, including 2pc of Crispy Chicken, Twister Fries (M), Chocolate Pie and Peach McFizz available from S$9.80 at all McDonald’s Singapore® outlets as well as McDelivery and GrabFood, whilst stocks last.

Happy Sharing Box

And for those with families to feed, there is also the Happy Sharing Box®, which comes in two versions.

Happy Sharing Box® C is priced at S$9.20 comes with 2pc Crispy Chicken and 4pc McWings®.

On the other hand, Happy Sharing Box® D has a price tag of S$14.60 and it comes with 5pc Crispy Chicken.

Both of the Happy Sharing Box® meals are now available at all McDonald’s Singapore® outlets as well as McDelivery and GrabFood, whilst stocks last.
