Singapore to play Argentina at the National Stadium

To mark the 125th anniversary of the Football Association of Singapore (FAS), the Singapore Lions will take on the world number two ranked team, Argentina, in a historic friendly match on Tuesday 13th June at the National Stadium.

Argentina to field a full strength team

Argentina are expected to field a full strength team, including forward Lionel Messi and star players Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain and Angel Di Maria, in the “match of the year.”

Sports Hub is delighted to host Argentina

Said Manu Sawhney, CEO of the Singapore Sports Hub, “We are delighted to host two time World Cup and 14 time Copa America champions, Argentina, in a friendly match with the Singapore Lions at the National Stadium. This is a fantastic addition to the vibrant season of football at the Singapore Sports Hub.”

Match is part of a four nation tour

The match is a part of a four nation tour that will see Argentina playing Brazil on 9 June and the Socceroos taking on Brazil in Melbourne on 13 June, the same night as the Singapore game.

Match will benefit Singapore players and coaches

Said Singapore Lions coach V. Sundram Moorthy, “Argentina are one of the top international teams and have in their squad many world class players such as Barcelona’s Lionel Messi. FAS has worked very hard to finalise the match, which will benefit our players and coaches in terms of invaluable exposure as well as enhance the level of sports entertainment for fans in Singapore.”

He added, “I am looking forward to leading my country out against the two time FIFA World Cup Champions and we hope Singaporeans will come out in force to cheer us on.”

Tickets are now available

Match tickets are currently available for purchase through sportshubtix.sg. Tickers are priced at S$40 to S$188 each and with children’s and senior citizen’s tickets at S$25 each.
