Protecting our oceans should be more than an initiative – it should be a purpose.
Thus introducing the Great Ocean Dash.
This is a nationwide ocean conservation campaign that brings in corporates, communities and individual to take action via beach and underwater cleanups.
This initiative is part of Singapore’s SG 60 celebrations and was coined by Orange Room which connects communities through health, fitness and sports experiences. Since 2008, it has organised large-scale sporting events across Singapore and Asia.
However, to spice things up, the Great Ocean Dash leverages on SpongeBob SquarePants and pop culture to blend fun and purpose together to make ocean conservation engaging and relatable while inspiring everyone to get involved.
Through this campaign, the event organisers are pledging the following:
- Removing 30,000kg of ocean debris from Singapore’s coastline
- Pledging $15,000 to NParks’ 100K Corals Initiative to restore our reefs.
- Building an inclusive ocean conservation community with our coastal action partners.
The event culminates in a Fun Run and Fest on 23 November 2025 at Palawan Green, Sentosa and is expected to draw over 5,000 participants across the 3km and 5km categories followed by a SpongeBob SquarePants themed festival with booths, games and other family-friendly activities.
Whether you are sprinting solo or dashing with your family, every step helps to raise awareness for ocean conservation. Finisher medals will be made from recycled plastics in line with this initiative and given out at the finish line.
The Great Ocean Dash is more than a run. It’s main purpose is all about driving real impact, giving back and celebrating together.
Rally your crew, grab your sneakers and answer SpongeBob’s call to protect Bikini Bottom – and our own ocean.
