Masalaa Bar, an Indian restaurant at the heart of Siglap, has launched Singapore’s first cocktail tote, a one-litre shareable cocktail available in four bold flavours and best paired with the restaurant’s popular Indian dishes.
The cocktail totes definitely lived up to their billing as being intricately designed and beautiful. Massive credit to Masalaa Bar for such a fun and novel idea.
The flavours and respective ingredients were as follows.
- At the beach – Scotch whiskey, blue curacao, lime, fizz and smush
- Sunset Orchard – vodka, triple sec, orange, pineapple, fizz and slush
- High Tea Royale – brandy, triple sec, lime, lemongrass, cola and slush
- Frosted flamingo – rum, triple sec, milk, cranberry, fizz and slush
Out of the flavours, my favourite was the “At the beach”, which took on a lovely sea-blue colour. The cocktail was easy to drink and light on the palette.
For those who prefer something more milky and creamy, the pink tote, Frosted Flamingo, was also yummy. It too, was quite easy to drink and felt very more-ish.

Other than the cocktail totes, Masalaa Bar also had a range of other Instagrammable drinks, such as a whimsical one which consisted of cotton candy and all things pink, and another one which gave me strong Halloween vibes and could have come straight out of a horror movie.
- Midnight Sun – white rum, dark rum, pineapple, orange, lime and grenadine
- Citra-Herb – vodka, basil, lemongrass, ginger and orange
- Blood on the dance floor – whiskey, rum, agostra, lime and grenadine
- Cotton Kiss – gin, lime, and cotton candy with glitter
The Blood on the Dance Floor was quite strong. I was pretty intrigued by this cocktail, because of the packaging inside a hospital syringe. It literally looked like blood, right down to the very shade of red used. And in terms of flavour, it was a pretty intense and strong cocktail and the flavours hit me immediately. Now I know why it is taken in “shots” rather than a full glass.
If you want something lighter and sweeter, Cotton Kiss has strong Barbie vibes, right down to the pink-ness. It was so pretty and Disney-sweet and would definitely not be out of place in a Barbie dreamland.
Due to the mixture of the ingredients, Midnight Sun is a unique cocktail that tastes notably different when you drink the top, bottom or mix everything in together. The distinctive flavour profiles were so different that it blew my mind.
The cocktails were served with Indian finger food, because you should not consume alcohol on an empty stomach. The chicken paprika tikka was really juicy and delicious while the vadapav sliders were quite intense with strong spicy notes. Overall, the food tasted really great when paired together with the cocktails.

I had an enjoyable time trying the different cocktails and sampling my way through all the different flavour profiles. As with all alcoholic drinks though, do watch your servings and be aware of your limitations.
Thanks once again to Masalaa Bar for such an awesome evening.
