Love beef steak? Try the new Striploin Steak Mushroom Swiss Burger from BURGER KING® [Review]

To cater to the tastes and preferences of steak lovers across the island, BURGER KING® Singapore has recently introduced the Ultimate Striploin Steak Mushroom Swiss Burger, as the latest addition to their Ultimate Selection range.

Having first arrived on Singapore shores in 1982 with their first restaurant at Peninsula Plaza, BURGER KING® Singapore Pte Ltd today operates 40 outlets across Singapore. The fast food chain also operates the BK Delivery serve for customers across the island to enjoy the taste of their great flame-grilled burgers.

Available only for a limited time and while stocks last, the new burger contains a generous, full slab of BURGER KING® flame-grilled Striploin steak, topped with sautéed mushrooms and creamy, melted Swiss cheese. 

The new burger is served between a corn-dusted sourdough bun and garnished with sweet caramelised onions, fresh tomatoes and crunchy Batavia lettuce.

Said Kym Lee, Marketing Manager of BURGER KING® Singapore, “As the go-to expert for flame-grilled burgers in the industry, we have always enjoyed serving customers our delicious flame-grilled flavours in our WHOPPER® and Mushroom Swiss® burgers.”

She added, “The 100 per cent Angus beef burgers with extra thick and juicy patties for the ultimate taste satisfaction, launched under our new premium range, pleased many burger fans. When we were conceptualising the Striploin steak burger, we explored the possibilities of pairing exotic flavours with the steak. We ultimately decided to serve the Striploin steak with our signature sautéed mushrooms and Swiss cheese to enhance the pure flame-grilled taste that beef lovers enjoy.”

Recently, I had the chance to try out the Ultimate Striploin Steak Mushroom Swiss Burger.

So I bought the burger together with an extra-value meal, which came together with the fast food chain’s signature thick-cut fries as well as a drink, for my lunch. 

Instead of dining in at the restaurant, I decided to take the burger home so that I could share a little bit of it with my family members, too.

My first impression was that the packaging of the burger had been quite “atas.” It had been first wrapped in the fast food chain’s signature paper wrapper, before being placed inside a plastic container – the same sort that BURGER KING® would usually use for their breakfast platters.

When I initially bit into the burger, my first impression was that the Striploin steak inside was tender and juicy and that this had complemented the flavours coming from the mushroom and the moist Swiss cheese very well. The contrast for everything went very well together – and so I had felt that it was a good choice on the part of BURGER KING® to have made the decision to pair these ingredients together.

Unfortunately the flame-grilled taste had been lacking though and in fact, I could not detect this at all as I ate my way through the burger. So I was a bit disappointed with that, because BURGER KING® is supposed to be well known for burgers with a signature flame-grilled taste.

I also thought that the corn-dusted sourdough burger bun had been a bit on the soggy side for my liking; in that regard, perhaps it may have been different if I had eaten the burger at the restaurant instead.

At the same time, the single leaf of lettuce that had been placed into the burger seemed a bit soggy too, but at least the tomato was still firm and had some bite to it though.

Besides the Striploin Steak Mushroom Swiss Burger though, the fast food chain has also enhanced their mobile app to introduce to their customers, a self-pickup feature, This new feature allows customers to pre-order their meals and collect them at a self-appointed time at their preferred BURGER KING® outlet.

And with the new feature, customers who want personalised burgers can also continue to eliminate or add on their favourite ingredients to enjoy their meals just the way that they like it.

Besides the new self-pickup feature though, the BURGER KING® app also contains special BURGER KING® promotions, coupons, discounts as well as freebies and is available as a free download on the Apple and Android App Stores.

I have been using the BURGER KING® app for some time now, and I have already redeemed a few promotions and free items via the app, such as a discounted S$2 breakfast croissan’wich or a free soft drink, from the popular fast-food chain.

This self-pickup feature however, is being rolled out in stages to BURGER KING® stores across Singapore. So if it is not ready yet for your phone or from your neighbourhood BURGER KING® outlet, but keep a lookout for this.
