Walk towards a heart-healthy lifestyle

Take part in a heart-friendly 3.5km walk for a heart-healthy lifestyle this year.

Cardiovascular disease is seen as the number one killer of women in Singapore yet only 11 per cent of women are aware of this according to a heart health survey by the Singapore Heart Foundation in 2013.

Go Red for Women with a mass walk

So to increase the awareness of cardiovascular disease, the Singapore Heart Foundation has relaunched the Go Red for Women campaign with a mass walk next month to encourage women and their families to take active steps to maintain their heart health.

The event will take place on June 25 at the Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade. Besides the walk, participants will also be able to take part in a mass workout, a finger prick cholesterol test, Zumba and many other fun family-friendly activities.

And in line with the campaign tagline, the Pledge Your Heart Walk will encourage participants to wear red to honour women in families and support them in making their health a priority. Participants can choose to either wear the red colour event tee, pimp up their outfit with red accessories or wear a red dress.

Cardiovascular disease is easily preventable

The reasons for staging the walk is that cardiovascular disease can easily be prevented with the correct lifestyle choices and every step taken amounts to a life-saving difference – even a 30-minute brisk walk five times a week can reduce the chances of falling victim to cardiovascular disease by a substantial amount.

SoA, why not try walking to save your health and your life?
