Event recap: 100KM Triathlon at T100 Singapore 2026

Triathlon fever took over Singapore over the weekend with the T100 elite men’s race on Saturday and the mass races on Sunday at the F1 Pit Building.

To make the event more inclusive this year, new triathlon categories were introduced. Athletes who were not up to taking on the full 100km could participate in the Sprint and Olympic distances. As well, Duathlon categories were available too.

Race kicks off

I formed a team of three with Ian and Nina and we took on the 100KM triathlon as a relay.

The 2km swim kicked off at Marina Bay at 7am, our wave was set to flag off at 7:55am. Ian did the swim, which was two laps. The swim went well, the views were amazing and he finished it in just over 47 minutes. This is the only chance that triathletes would get to legally swim in the middle of Marina Bay as the location is usually off-bounds.

Then it was the 80km bike ride. Nina did the bike. It was close to 9am and getting hot. The route was challenging too requiring participants to complete Sheares Bridge loops but she did amazingly, completing the 80km in 3 hours 8 minutes.

Check out my race video for Ian and Nina’s comments on the swim and bike legs.

I headed into the transition pen at around 11:45am to wait for her to get in.

Race stopped

However at 11:50am, we received the message that the race would be stopped because of bad weather.

We were instructed to head to the pit garages to seek shelter.

The race was officially cancelled at around 12:30pm and we were then instructed to pick up our bikes and take our finisher medals.

Everyone was instructed to leave the race precinct at around 1:30pm.

As a positive, the organisers were trying to clear off all their leftover food and drink so there was no shortage of free stuff for athletes to refuel and rehydrate themselves. Everyone was reenergising themselves with stuff ranging from scones and pies to wraps and sandwiches, 100 plus and flavoured milkshakes.

We headed to the nearby Singapore Flyer and found ourselves stranded there for a while when the rain came tanking down at around 2pm.

Check out my race video for more details and thoughts about what happened on Sunday afternoon.
