Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) is set to return to the KL City Centre on 4 and 5 October 2025 and bringing with it, exciting new changes and developments.
First of all there will be is a brand new start and finish point. Those who have been hankering for a stadium finish, your wish has been granted. KLSCM will end at the historic Stadium Merdeka. The start line will be in the middle of the city centre.
The change in location is due to ongoing upgrading works at Dataran Merdeka, the usual venue for KLSCM over the years.

As well, the Run Club Challenge has been launched for running clubs in Malaysia. Clubs can send teams of four runners to compete in the Full Marathon, the ASICS Half Marathon and the Pantai KL 10km. Participation in the inaugural event is by invite only and clubs must meet certain criteria to qualify.
Also launched was the State Youth Challenge for young Malaysian runners aged 15 to 24 to represent their Malaysian state in the Full Marathon, the ASICS Half Marathon and the Pantai KL 10km. Prize money earned will go to the state’s athletic association to support youth programmes.

There will also be brand new start times for some categories too. Stay tuned to find out which race categories these will be.
Standard Chartered Malaysia has also renewed their partnership as title sponsor of the KLSCM for four more years. The partnership will extend into 2028.
Said Mak Joon Nien, CEO, Standard Chartered Malaysia, “Standard Chartered is proud to extend our title sponsorship of KLSCM for another four years. We celebrate our 150th anniversary in Malaysia this year, so this renewed partnership reflects our enduring commitment to the Marathon’s success as well as the nation, thereby underscoring our promise to be Here For Good.”

He continued, “With Malaysia now having assumed the role of ASEAN Chair, 2025 presents an even greater opportunity to elevate Malaysia’s visibility in the region.”
In celebration, eligible Standard Chartered Priority Banking clients will receive a complimentary running slot when they deposit and invest with the Bank. As well, they stand a chance to win a trip to French Riviera too.
Said Rainer Biemans, Director of Dirigo Events and Project Director of the KLSCM, “We are delighted to be able to continue our partnership with Standard Chartered Malaysia for another chapter.”
Rainer adds, “Our shared values and commitment together with the growth of running culture in the country has seen us connect with lots of running communities. We are looking forward to bringing Malaysia’s premier running event to new levels.”
Sports brand ASICS and Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur have also been named as Gold Sponsors and awarded naming rights for the half marathon and 10km categories. The Half Marathon has been now named as the ASICS Half Marathon and the 10km is now the Pantai KL 10km. ASICS are also the official shoe and apparel sponsors for the KLSCM.

Last year, KLSCM 2024 saw a record number of 42,000 participants taking part in the event as well as the Medic On The Run initiative to provide medical assistance to runners on the go immediately in case of accidents or emergencies en route and it will continue this year. This programme sees medical professionals including doctors, nurses and paramedics equipped with AEDs and first-aid packs running alongside the participants.
As a race that chooses to make a difference, the KLSCM has always included a platform for runners to transform their every step into a powerful catalyst for change by raising funds for causes close to their hearts, through the Run For A Reason (RFAR) charity initiative. This has raised over RM 9 million in funds to help charity partners make a difference in society over the years.
