The leading quick service restaurant chain in the chicken category in Singapore, KFC is renowned for serving its customers delicious, complete family meals at affordable prices. 

The first KFC restaurant in Singapore had been initially opened in 1977 and today there are now a total of 84 restaurants across Singapore.

A popular perennial combination 

And the new Cheesy Chicken Ham Twister is a popular perennial combination comprising of layers of fluffy scrambled eggs with a slice of savoury chicken ham and a generous drizzle of KFC’s signature cheese sauce, and is then wrapped up in a cocoon of lightly toasted tortilla.

This item is being billed as the perfect time-saving and ultra-portable package during the morning rush hours, that does not compromise taste either.

Tasting the Cheesy Chicken Ham Twister from KFC Singapore

Eager to have a taste of KFC’s latest breakfast item for myself, I bought the Cheesy Chicken Ham Twister from my nearest KFC branch to try. Here are my thoughts on the item.

The new wrap is packaged in a simple cardboard box with perforated lines near the top, which makes it quite easy to tear open and eat, especially for busy people who are on the go and don’t have the time to eat a proper sit-down breakfast. So in this way, the item lives up to its billing.

And upon tearing open the packaging, the first thing that I could smell, was the smoky BBQ note that was coming out of the ham.

When I took a bite of the wrap, I thought that it was delicious. 

The smoky taste of the ham came out quite pleasantly without overpowering the wrap, and at the same time, I could also pick up some of the cheesiness oozing out from the nacho cheese sauce. This complements the ham very nicely. 

As well, there is also a peppery note that is added to the nacho cheese, which I thought gave it an extra zing, too.

The presence of the scrambled egg too, added a little bit of moisture to the wrap, which I thought also improves the overall contrast of textures.

Overall, I think that the flavours come together nicely. The ingredients used were simple, but the combination was effective and had worked well. 

And I also noted too, that the wrap was not oily, which I thought is quite good, as this means that KFC can appeal to the health-conscious too. I am not a fan of having rich food in the mornings, so this is something that appeals to me too.

But I must also point out that if you are buying the KFC Cheesy Chicken Ham Twister, it is best to eat it immediately upon purchase. 

This is because the wrap may get soggy and everything could clump together if you do not eat it straight away.

Priced from S$4 onwards for both dine-in and take-away orders, the new Cheesy Chicken Ham Twister is available at all 68 KFC outlets serving breakfast in Singapore. 

The wrap is only available during breakfast hours, which ends at 11am daily.

And for those who have larger appetites or else who may want to share, there is also the KFC Buddy Meal which includes one Twister of your choice, one Original Recipe Porridge, two hash browns and two Regular Iced Milo beverages.

Apart from the new Cheesy Chicken Ham Twister, there is also the Original Recipe and American Twisters that you can pick from, if you are not a fan of ham and cheese.

This Buddy Meal is priced at S$9.95 for both dine-in and take-away orders.
