Now, ASICS has reinvigorated the classic shoe.

Fifth iteration of the classic GEL-KAYANO™

The 1999 GEL-KAYANO™ 5 was the fifth iteration of ASICS’ classic GEL-KAYANO™ series, which is renowned as a high mileage running shoe with superior comfort and bearing a bold VIS-TECH look.

A Bold Update to the Classic

In keeping with the same principles and legendary silhouette, the GEL-KAYANO™ 5 OG is a bold update of the classic shoe, for a fashion forward audience.

In its heyday, the original GEL-KAYANO™ 5 had been known as a high-end performance running shoe.

And now, holding true to ASICS’ heritage, the newly released GEL-KAYANO™ 5 OG has been updated with a contemporary twist – it is still on point, just as it was back in 1999.

Cutting-edge GEL™ Technology

Combining both vintage and modern features, GEL-KAYANO™ 5 OG uses cutting edge GEL™ technology, a fresh colour palette and Quadra-lacing system to update the 1999 cult classic, but at the same time, still remaining true to the authentic look and feel that had originally made the shoe so popular back in the 90s. 

Featuring DUOMAX™ Technology

And as well, the shoe will see the return of the DUOMAX™ technology, a feature which reduces inward rotation of the foot.

Available for SGD $189

In keeping with the silhouette that made the shoe a classic, the punchy reinvention will be available for SGD $189 from 21 December onwards, at Dover Street Market and Limited Edt.

Instagram Stories and Posts

And to promote the shoe, there will also be a series of Instagram stories and posts on the ASICS TIGER Instagram page, tapping into the aesthetics of the late 1990s running magazines, using vintage running editorial materials with a modern twist

The content of these posts will tell the story of how the original shoe came into being, whilst at the same time, showcasing product features and retailing information.
