Raise funds to support SCS programmes and services

Through the annual event, RAC aims to raise funds to support the programmes and services by the SCS.

One of Singapore’s longest standing and largest charity runs since its inception in 2003, the new virtual format of the RAC will allow even more people to take part at their convenience safely, adhering to safe distancing measures while continuing to champion the cause with SCS.

RAC an annual event since mum’s 2014 brain cancer diagnosis

The RAC has been an annual must-do event on my running calendar, ever since my mum had been diagnosed with glioblastoma (an aggressive brain cancer) in August 2014. She has been in and out of hospital since then.

It is for this reason why the RAC cause is so meaningful to me and represents something close to my heart.

Having experienced first-hand, what it is like to have a loved one being diagnosed with cancer, and witnessing the toll that the diagnosis takes not only on a loved one’s physical body, but also how it affects the patient’s caregivers mentally and financially, I have made it a point to support the cancer community with my annual participation in RAC, in the hope that the Singapore Cancer Society’s efforts will one day eradicate cancer and that future generations should not need to suffer from cancer.

Raising funds to provide holistic care for those affected by cancer

Cancer does not discriminate, unfortunately, and anyone can be affected by cancer, regardless of financial background.

Due to Covid-19, the well-being of cancer patients have been especially affected – for those from low-income families, the cancer journey can be especially trying especially during this time, and SCS hopes to continue raising funds to provide a medium of holistic care for them. Covid-19 impacted SCS’ fundraising efforts significantly for 2020.

Therefore, while it is free-of-charge to join the virtual event, all participants are strongly recommended to either fundraise or donate any amount to join, allowing them to rally their friends and family to support their participation.

Prizes and incentives

To up the excitement, prizes will also be given for participants to be creative, with awards such as Most Creative Route, Best Dressed, Loyal RAC Participant, Best Fundraiser and Longest Distance.

Registration is now open

Registration for the event is open now and you can find out more details or sign up at https://raceagainstcancer.org.sg.
