Football Giants Liverpool, Spurs, Bayern Munich, AS Roma and Leicester City to play in Singapore Festival of Football this July

This July, Singapore football fans can look forward to an epic week of thrilling action – as Singapore will play host to the inaugural Singapore Festival of Football driven by CDC Zig from 26 July – 2 Aug. Liverpool FC will return to the National Stadium at the Singapore Sports Hub for the second year in a row. This is taking place just before the new season on 12 Aug.

Football brings people together

Said Patrick Lee, Cluster CEO, Singapore and ASEAN Markets, “We are delighted to welcome Liverpool FC to Singapore again and we look forward to the top level entertainment that the team will bring to our clients, colleagues and the communities along with other leading European clubs. Football has a unique ability to bring together people from all walks of life and Standard Chartered is excited to be able to play a leading role in delivering a memorable experience for fans in Singapore.”

First large scale football event

The Singapore Festival of Football is the first large-scale football event with multiple matches featuring European clubs to be held in Singapore since 2019. It marks the return of major events to Singapore as international tourism in the region continues to grow. Supported by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), the event also cements Singapore’s standing in the region as a prime host of key events.

Said STB’s Keith Tan, Chief Executive, “We are excited to build on the success of last year’s match to offer a star-studded week of football that will attract passionate fans from across the region. The Singapore Festival of Football by CDC Zig will be a major highlight in our vibrant calendar of events this year.”

Bayern Munich and Leicester City

Joining Liverpool this year are Bayern Munich and Leicester City, the 2015/2016 Premier League champions. The week-long fiesta will kick off with the Tiger Cup between Tottenham Hotspur and AS Roma. Tiger Beer are the presenting partner and title sponsor.

Open training sessions

Spurs, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also hosting open training sessions. For Spurs and Liverpool, this will be at the 55,000 seater National Stadium. For Bayern Munich, they will announce the details in the coming weeks.

Matches

Liverpool will play two matches, firstly Leicester City on 30 July for the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy, then they will play Bayern Munich for the Singapore Trophy on 2 August. This will be Bayern Munich’s first visit back to Singapore since 2017.

Football Fan Interactive Festival Village

Apart from the action on the pitch, fans can also look forward to the Football Fan Interactive Festival Village throughout the week. This will be open during open training and match days as well as 1st August, the day before the final match between Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

A wide range of engagement activities and food and beverages will be available to give fans the full festival experience.
