In his quest to make it to the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020, multiple South East Asia Games (SEA) Gold Medallist Soh Rui Yong, 26, has renewed his partnership with local food and beverage powerhouse Yeo Hiap Seng, the company behind the H-Two-O brand.

This is a much needed boost for Soh in his bid to become the first Singaporean man to qualify for an Olympic Games Marathon.

SOH IS GRATEFUL TO HIS SPONSORS

Said Soh “I am very grateful to my sponsors and their support of my passion for the sport. H-Two-O is doing a lot to reach out to the youths of Singapore and in this new year of our partnership, we are looking to collaborate even further to educate the youths of the important event of an active and healthy lifestyle.”

He added “The support of Yeo Hiap Seng has helped me in my quest to continue improving as a runner and I am honoured to be their athlete ambassador again.”

YEO HIAP SENG TO PUT DOWN A FIVE FIGURE SUM TO BACK SOH

The deal, which has been renewed for one year, sees Yeo Hiap Seng put down a five figure amount behind Soh as he continues his run up to the Tokyo Olympic Games. In return, Soh will promote their range of H-Two-O isotonic drinks.

Said Melvin Teo, Group CEO of Yeo Hiap Seng “We are delighted to be a part of Rui’s inspirational athletics journey for the third year in a row.”

He added “Rui’s determination and passion for the sport is commendable and we are confident that H-Two-O will be the perfect complement for his rigorous training and international competitions and we are truly excited to see Rui continue to fly the Singaporean flag on the global stage.”

LAST FEW MONTHS HAVE BEEN PROMISING FOR SOH

The last few months have seen Soh clinch the first ever National Men’s Marathon title at the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon in December on his debut and this was followed by a 1hour 8min 37sec run at the Kagawa Marugame International Half Marathon.

TAKES PART IN THE IAAF WORLD HALF MARATHON CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS WEEKEND

This weekend, Soh also runs at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Valencia, Spain, as Singapore’s fastest qualifier, where he is aiming to go under the 67-minute mark and break the national record for the distance in the process.

To achieve this, Soh has been training at the legendary Flagstaff in Arizona, the United States, for the past month.

We wish Soh all the best in his run at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships.
