Review: Sudio F2 Mini Portable Speaker + 15% OFF

Described as being the building blocks for having a good time, the Sudio F2 is a mini portable speaker that promises powerful sound and many features packed into its small body.

Regardless of whether you are going to the shower, your next gathering or anywhere you need some rhythm and energy, you can bring the Sudio F2 along with you.

Black Sudio F2

Sudio sent me an F2 for my review. There are two colours available, black and white. I picked the black one.

According to Sudio, the F2 is the best and most beautiful portable speaker of its calibre in the market. Let’s see whether it lives up to the hype.

Sudio F2 arriving

The Sudio F2 arrived via courier in a white box together with a basic instruction manual and a charging cable. The style and design of the Sudio F2 packaging strongly reminds me of Apple’s products.

The Sudio F2 is compatible with iOS, Android, Mac OS, Windows and Linux. So all the major operating systems are covered.

Sleek and elegant

When I first took the F2 out of the box, my first impression was that it looks very sleek and elegant. It has a nice matt finish.

Its shape is rather interesting: square with slightly rounded edges. This is quite different and makes the speaker stands out. I do feel the design of the Sudio F2 makes one of the prettier looking speakers that I have come across.

In terms of the feel of the speaker, it is solid and rubbery. This gives it added friction and makes it quite grippy to the touch, so you are unlikely to drop the speaker if it gets wet or splashed.

Dimensions and weight

The dimensions of the F2 are 106mm by 106mm by 55mm.

The weight of the Sudio F2 is 410 grams. Picking up the speaker, it feels slightly heavier than I had originally expected it to be.

For its weight and size, the F2 can fit easily into a small backpack, handbag or purse. As well, it is also the right size to fit a cycling basket. So it can easily be taken along to a picnic, hiking trip or cycling outing. It would be too bulky for carrying along when running though.

Fuss-free connecting

Connecting the speaker to my iPhone 12 Pro is very easy and fuss-free. All I have to do is to turn on Bluetooth on both the F2 and my iPhone and the phone will detect the speaker. Once connected, you are good to go.

The Bluetooth button is located at the top of the speaker, along with the volume controls and the play/pause button. The power and broadcast button is also here. This provides easy and convenient access to the buttons. It is nifty and handy indeed.

If you don’t have Bluetooth, the F2 can also connect to any 8-track, cassette or vinyl record player via AUX 3.5mm input.

This 3.5mm jack port is concealed together with the charging port inside a waterproof flap that is hidden at the bottom of the speaker. The positioning and placement is quite thoughtful because it limits the chances of water finding its way into the fragile electronic workings of the speaker.

Powerful speaker with strong bass

I have been using the F2 to play music. And for its size, I definitely have to agree that it is a pretty powerful speaker.

In terms of the sound quality, the bass is strong and pronounced. The mids are clear enough, but I felt that the trebles are a tad lacking. Unless you are an audiophile, the sound is good enough for most people.

I also noted that the sound quality appears to improve significantly when the music is blasted at higher volumes as this makes the bass amplified further.

The Bluetooth range of the Sudio F2 is 10m. So as long as your phone or computer is within touching distance to the speaker, you are good.

Water resistant

It is water resistant too and with an IPX7 rating, so if it rains or the speaker gets wet, this means you don’t need to worry in most situations.

Perhaps do be a little more careful if you’re taking your Sudio F2 to a pool or beach party though. Despite the water protection features, the Sudio F2 is still an electronic equipment, after all.

Broadcast function

As well, this speaker also has a broadcast function that allows you to link up to 100 Sudio F2s in the same space.

This is a pretty interesting feature, because if you and your friend each have a Sudio F2, the speakers are able to bounce off each other to add double the energy, mood and atmosphere.

Charging and playtime

On a single charge, the Sudio F2 has 15 hours of playtime. I’d say that this is more than enough to last you through your whole event. It takes four hours to fully charge the Sudio F2 once it is depleted. The F2 uses a USB-C cable to charge.

Conclusion

As a whole, I would say that the Sudio F2 is a sweet little nifty speaker that I am definitely enjoying using.
